Sharing is Caring #2

Carl Nogueira

Guys and gal,        Installment two of SIC(k). Please note there is an important one, I found mind blowing near the end.

A2.52   Please note this is where off board deployment is allowed. I also found the exact wording of the rule a bit interesting, and open for discussion. It reads:an off-board sqaud(not Russian) may attempt to deploy IF STACKED WITH A LEADER.    Does this mean Finns not stacked with leaders are SOL in this case? Would

seem so by the letter of the law. I checked the Q&A, none I could find. Scott, J.R., anybody?

A2.8 Just an answer, or where to find it, to a question I heard arise on more than one occasion. The example to this rule states a ldr in crest status may

not effect units IN the depression level of the same hex. So, lets say a mtr

barrage hits the hex, ldr at crest level, and boys IN the depression are not

on the same page, for all that entails.

A2.9 Again a where to find, but also an extension I was unaware of. A scenario DEFENDER, (check your glossary) may check los while setting up his defense pre-game, (Now the part I didn't know) as may a player allowed to boresight/ have pre-registered hexes. Obviously it is up to the player to be

mature and sportsmanlike, and not abuse this to death, but it is interesting, because there are scenarios where the player on the defensive is not necessarily a scenario DEFENDER, and is allowed to boresight/pre-reg. There are also cases where the attacker is allowed pre-reg, though, to my knowledge, never boresighting.

A3.1 Q&A (Just a nice to know bit of trivia) May a leader attempt to immediately recover a weapon from a unit that was eliminated in that rally phase, if that leader tried to rally that/another unit, performed any other action..............anr.NO.

A4.11 :-0  Wounded leaders have 4 mf when they ride/dismount/MOUNT a conveyance in a turn. Please note this means mr wounded ldr can go 3 mf then

hop the bus, as can inexperienced personal. Never occurred to me that it worked in this direction.

A4.12 :-0 Also, when stacked with a leader under the same circumstances as shown above, you can still only use 4 mf in the turn you MOUNT/ride/dismount

a conveyance. So you can't run 5 and hop on. Four shall be the number of the

movement factors, and the movement factor number shall be four ;-)(appropriate Monty Python accent).

A4.132 :-0 Knew half of this, but the last half is REAL IMPORTANT. At first blush the impression is big deal, knew that. Then I started thinking of all the connotations implied. Correct me if I'm wrong please, but it sounds like

this is very possible. A unit moves between two hexes down a road hexside, using road mf, or open ground if that is the other terrain but still down the road. the defending unit that wishes to shoot them can't see them in the hex

centerdot where they start, or where they end, but CAN see the spot where the road intersects the hexside crossed. Looks like all the world to me that he can cut loose, full fp, -2 mod (assuming unhindered shot) as a sort of special full fp snap shot. This due to use of the road. The Q&A is very useful also, and I strongly advise reading the rule as, if this is right, it

makes for one hell of a nasty surprise. It also raises a couple of questions. If this is right, can you strip concealment using the above example before firing? Does residual go in the hex entered or left? ( I assume entered, but

would like the feedback.) Finally, read the examples very closely. I know I have been playing the blue arrows wrong all these years. The mf things I did

know, as well as the hexside rule, but the full impact never sank in.

A4.14 c Is a PAATC required for a unit already in a hex with a vehicle in Bypass, but NOT IN MELEE. No.

A4.15 :-0 2 SMC in a location can prevent infantry overrun.
